Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle offers convenient, quality care close to home for Northwest Tarrant and Parker counties. The hospital is designated as both a Level IV Trauma Center and Level III Stroke Center; and our long-standing commitment to the community includes the implementation of patient education programs focused on sustainable lifestyle changes and chronic disease management.

Visitor Information
Patients may receive visitors at any time (specialty units may have some variation). Please check with the nurse regarding specific unit visiting hours and quiet time guidelines, or if you have any special needs or requests.

Tonya Sosebee, President and Chief Nursing Officer
Tonya Sosebee, M.S.N., R.N., NEA-BC, serves as president and chief nursing officer at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle.
Sosebee previously served as Texas Health Azle’s interim chief nursing officer. As a key member of the entity leadership team, she was responsible for leading Reliable Care BlueprintingTM initiatives both locally and at the system level, and actively participates in workforce planning to ensure efficient staffing levels in all departments.
She brings more than 30 years of nursing experience, including 24 years in leadership roles. Sosebee began her career as a staff nurse at Cook Children’s Healthcare System in Fort Worth. She joined Texas Health Azle in 2013, as the director of the Medical/Surgical and Intensive Care Unit and more recently, served as associate chief nursing officer.
Sosebee is also actively involved in the community through her work as a member of the medical care team with Kidd’s Kids and the Friends of Azle Council.
She received a master’s degree in nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Arlington.

James Sammons, Chief Quality and Medical Officer
James H. Sammons Jr., M.D., M.S., LFACHE, LFACOG, serves as chief quality and medical officer at Texas Health Azle. He is responsible for promoting clinical excellence and safety in patient care throughout all hospital departments.
Retiring in 2020 after 45 years in healthcare, the last eight years as Chief Medical Officer (CQMO) at Texas Health Arlington Memorial, Sammons spent the next two years relaxing with his wife and family, with an interlude giving Covid vaccinations as a volunteer at Texas Health HEB. After taking a short-term position while Azle sought a replacement for a retired CQMO, he was offered the permanent position he now holds.
With more than 28 years of physician leadership experience, Sammons formerly served as vice president for medical affairs at two Virginia health care systems prior to Texas Health. With more than 26 years of active service, Sammons is a retired colonel from the United States Air Force Medical Corps, where he completed clinical and leadership assignments during peacetime and two wars. He also authored several programs that were adopted by the Air Force and the Department of Defense.
A native Texan, Sammons graduated from Texas A&M University and Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Portsmouth Naval Regional Medical Center in Virginia. In addition, he also holds a Master of Science degree with distinction in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., and as a Flight Surgeon he was the Honor Graduate in his Aerospace Medicine primary course. He is a Life Fellow in both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Sammons and his wife of 50 years, Cindy, have two grown children and four grandchildren.
