Community Flu Shot Clinic Offered at Texas Health Kaufman 10/15/2013
KAUFMAN, Texas — Flu season is here and the best way to protect yourself and your family is to get a flu shot. On Monday, Oct. 21, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman will provide flu shots to the public for $20.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends a yearly flu shot for individuals ages 6 months and older.
“The vaccine will protect you throughout the flu season so it’s always a good idea to get it as soon as it becomes available,” said Carla Ashton, employee health nurse at Texas Health Kaufman. “For adults over the age of 65 and children under the age of 2, it’s important to get the flu vaccine because they are at a higher risk of serious illness or hospitalization from the flu.”
In addition to the flu shot, Ashton recommends washing your hands as a method of prevention and if you do have the flu, stay home from school or work to avoid spreading germs.
The flu shot clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Conference Room A, located in the basement of the hospital. For more information, contact Ashton at 972-932-7278.
