Two years ago, patient Truman Duncan’s life was saved by David Smith, M.D., medical director of trauma at Texas Health Fort Worth. Duncan, cut in half by a train, shared his story of survival and Smith discusses how the team of nurses and physicians worked together to save Duncan’s life.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth was recently featured in a Star-Telegram story about the peanut butter recall.

Texas Health Dallas, Texas Health Resources in Dallas Morning News

Jamie Glass, a neonatal intensive care nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, was part of a Jan. 25 story in The Dallas Morning News. The article looked into people who go into health care after starting their careers in another field. Glass had been a sales and marketing executive in the automotive industry before finding her true passion: taking care of premature and low birth-weight babies in the Texas Health Dallas NICU. Overall, Texas Health Resources Inc. has noticed the average age of nursing school graduates increasing, an indicator that many are starting second careers.

Texas Health Allen in Neighborsgo

Neighborsgo, a publication of The Dallas Morning News, included an article last week on Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen and its "Baby-Friendly Hospital" designation. The reporter's sister had a baby at Texas Health Allen and was impressed by the hospital and her family's experience there.

Texas Health Cleburne in Star-Telegram

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne Emergency Department Director Kris Hires, R.N., was featured in the Star-Telegram’s Burleson Crowley Cleburne Up Close section. The story and photo highlighted Hires’ work as a cruise ship nurse when she isn’t working at Texas Health Cleburne.

The section also featured a story and photo about a monument recently installed at the hospital to honor the Walls family’s contributions to the hospital. Hospital president Blake Kretz was quoted in both stories.
