HMHEB Fitness Center’s family movie night in Star-Telegram

The Harris Methodist HEB Fitness Center is hosting a free family movie night on its front lawn, and the Star-Telegram featured the event on June 20 in its “Today’s Agenda” column on the front page of the Northeast section.

Carol Dufresne, R.N., Care Connect coordinator at Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital, was recognized for her special recognition at the 2008 DFW Hospital Council Awards.

Mary Robinson, R.N., vice president and patient care services and chief nursing officer, and Bob Sturgill, R.N., director of the medical surgical department at Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital were featured in an article discussing the evolution of medical surgical nursing.

Jessie Smith-Jackson, R.N., and Becky Bramlett, R.N., are both featured in photographs taken during Nurses’ Week with Phyllis Norman, R.N., vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital.

PHP physician to be featured on WBAP health series; cancer program's accreditation highlighted on DMN Neighbors Web site

A reporter from WBAP-AM (820) interviewed Dr. Robert Cook, a family practice physician at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, for the news station's weekly health series, scheduled to air at 7:20 a.m. on June 21. Cook provided tips on taking care of oneself while in the hot summer sun.

The Dallas Morning News' Neighbors Web site features a story on PHP's cancer program recently receiving top accreditation from the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer as an "approved cancer program."

AMH nurse Sharon Thorwald featured on KRLD-AM

Sharon Thorwald, R.N., CAPA, PACU clinical coordinator at Arlington Memorial Hospital, along with PACU unit secretary Fannie Lindsey, helped save the life of co-worker Alicia Garza last year. When Garza called in to the PACU feeling ill, Lindsey picked up on how bad she felt and summoned Thornwald to the phone, who promptly encouraged Garza to call 911, probably saving her life. KRLD-AM (1080) honored Thorwald as one of the station’s “community heroes” and featured an on-air interview with her on June 20.
