I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Health Care Report.”
I’d like to invite you to participate in this year’s HeartBeat 5K and Healthy Heart Fair, presented by CSANT, which benefits the children and families of Dallas’ Vickery Meadow neighborhood.
The race is Saturday, May 16 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race starts at 8:30.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from this important community event are reinvested in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood east of the hospital. Now in its 18th year, the HeartBeat 5K is hosted by Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation and the PHorum, one of the foundation’s signature volunteer organizations.
Over the years, the race has raised more than $610,000 for community outreach projects in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood. Proceeds from the race have supported opening a community dental center that provides $2 million a year in low- to no-cost dental treatment for low- and moderate-income residents. Other outreach projects supported by the race include a youth and family service center and a playground for children with disabilities at L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary School.
A special thanks to presenting sponsor CSANT and all of our committed partners for helping us make this possible for our community.
Early registration for the race is $18. For more information about the HeartBeat 5K, visit TexasHealth.org/HB5K.
For our faith-based family of hospitals — Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist, and Texas Health Arlington Memorial — I’m Doug Hawthorne.
