Joan Clark, D.N.P., R.N., NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE, FAAN, is senior vice president/chief nursing executive for Texas Health Resources. In this role, Clark serves as the senior executive overseeing the practice of nursing, and the standardization and alignment of nursing care through the implementation of evidence-based clinical and managerial standards of practice.   
                           
Prior to joining Texas Health in March 2008, Clark served as senior vice president of nursing and patient services at the Washington Hospital Center, a 926-bed tertiary care teaching hospital and flagship of Med Star Health, in Washington, D.C. She also served in chief nursing positions for Baptist Hospital of Miami in Florida and Floyd Medical Center in Georgia.

Clark received her nursing degree from the Montefiore Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pa., and earned a bachelor of science in Health Care Administration from St. Joseph's College in North Windham, Maine. She also earned a master's of science degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Florida and her doctorate of executive nursing practice from Texas Christian University. Clark is a Wharton Nurse Fellow and Magnet Appraiser with the American Nurse Credentialing Center. She also serves as adjunct faculty for the University of Texas at Arlington.

Clark is active in supporting the nursing profession, serving as a member and leader of a number of professional organizations, including the American Organization of Nurse Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Nurses Association.

Clark has received a number of awards for her leadership in nursing, including the Dorothy Smith Nursing Leadership Award from the University of Florida College of Nursing, Florida Organization of Nurse Executives Nurse Leadership Award and Service Award from the Florida League for Nursing. Clark has been inducted as a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives as well as the American Academy of Nursing. She was named a 2011 Great 100 Nurse for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Clark has given numerous presentations nationwide on a variety of nursing topics and has been interviewed for and published articles in a number of nursing publications.
