Texas Health Stephenville Invites Public to Cholesterol Screening, Book Sale|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville invites the community to two great events at the hospital on Nov. 2.
Cholesterol screening event
The cholesterol screenings will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in the Atrium at Texas Health Stephenville. Proceeds will benefit the 2011 Stephenville High School Project Graduation.
The National Cholesterol Education Program Panel recommends that everyone age 20 or older have a fasting blood test every five years.
High school students and their parents will help individuals fill out the appropriate paperwork for the screenings and hospital employees will complete the screenings. A lipid profile, which is a breakdown of good and bad cholesterol levels, is $25. Thyroid testing is $25 and prostate tests cost $30 each.
A complete profile, which includes the lipid profile, but not the thyroid or prostate tests, will cost $70. Fasting after midnight is required to achieve accurate results. No appointment is required. Participants will have their lab results mailed to them. They can then be taken to a primary care doctor for follow-up treatment, if needed.

The Volunteer Auxiliary’s book sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Belknap Lobby.
A range of materials — from children’s books to publications for adults — will be available.
A percentage of the proceeds from the book fair will be given to the Auxiliary to fund ongoing projects. The Auxiliary raises money to complete projects such as waiting room renovations and other improvement efforts for the hospital.
