Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital Names Volunteer of the Year|
BEDFORD, Texas – Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital recently named Francine Farrelly of Bedford, the hospital’s “Sunshine Chair” and resident firecracker, as Volunteer of the Year.
Francine Farrelly (center) was honored by Harris Methodist H•E•B President Debbie Paganelli (left) and Carolyn Braxton, director of volunteer services.
“It has often been said ‘good things come in small packages’ and that is certainly true of Francine,” said Carolyn Braxton, director of volunteer services at Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital. “She may be small in stature, but she is known for her larger-than-life personality. Anytime she is involved, we have learned to expect the unexpected.”
A volunteer since 2003, Farrelly is known for her sunny and boisterous personality. She works in the hospital’s Gift Shoppe and workroom checking in merchandise, pricing items and setting up displays. Farrelly also serves on the Auxiliary’s Board of Directors, serving as the “Sunshine Chair,” a position dedicated to cheeriness and encouragement.
It is not unusual for Farrelly to stop what she is doing to help answer questions, provide directions or simply smile and acknowledge our patients and guests. She is truly a dynamic force in her commitment as a volunteer, Braxton said.
“With her enthusiasm, big smile and can-do-attitude, it is very evident she loves our hospital and her work as a volunteer,” Braxton said.
Farrelly was named Volunteer of the Year at the Auxiliary’s Annual Awards and Officer Installation luncheon June 20.
