CLEBURNE, Texas — The annual list of the best nurses in Dallas-Fort Worth is out, and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne is represented by Ronda Dillard, R.N., C.O.H.N.

Dillard, who serves as an employee and occupational health nurse at Texas Health Cleburne, has wanted to be a nurse since she was 8 years old.

“I visited a great aunt with end-stage lung cancer in the hospital. I remember how everyone calmed as the nurse capably performed her tasks. As I peeked through the door, I thought, ‘When I grow up I want to be able to do that.’”

With 33 years of compassionate service, Dillard appreciates the honor of being named a Great 100 Nurse.

“This means my peers recognize the qualities that characterize the best of nursing in me as an individual. They respect my accomplishments and value what I bring to enhance the field of nursing — both professionally and personally,” said Dillard.

“The Great 100 Nurses are the best of the best, and we’re honored to see Ronda recognized,” said Cindy Plonien, chief nurse executive at Texas Health Cleburne. “Our nurses set a high standard for each other, an example of excellence that is made up of hard work and dedication for every patient, every day. I am proud that their work was recognized among the best in our region.”

The Texas Nurses Association and the North Texas Organization of Nurse Executives annually sponsor the “Great 100 Nurses,” which honors registered nurses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who exemplify excellence in the art and science of nursing. Nurses are nominated by their peers, and may only be named to the list once in their career.

Texas Health nurses won 26 of the 100 spots on the coveted list.

“Every day our patients benefit from the compassion, skills and plain hard work of Texas Health nurses,” said Douglas D. Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health. “It’s touching to see the dedication and caring spirit of our nurses recognized with such a prestigious award from their peers.”

The “Great 100 Nurses” will be honored by TNA Districts 3 and 4 and by the North Texas Organization of Nurse Executives at the 21st annual gala on April 27 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.
