“We are excited Dr. Frano has chosen Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital to start her practice,” HMWR President Blake Kretz said. “She brings new surgical techniques and energy to the medical staff as we expand our surgical capacities at the hospital.”
Frano practices general surgery, which includes repairing hernias and treating gall bladder, breast and thyroid conditions. But she also brings an emphasis on advanced laparoscopic procedures, such as colon resections and anti-reflux procedures.
Laparoscopic procedures use smaller incisions and patients recover more quickly than from traditional, open surgery.
“I’m looking forward to building a laparoscopic surgery practice in Cleburne,” she said. “So far, everyone at the hospital has been very helpful and great to work with.”
Frano is no stranger to North Texas. She served as a general surgery resident at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth and rose to become chief resident in the last year. She graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center and Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
But her hometown is a bit further away. Frano hails from a town of 1,500 people in Norway where she had to take the ferry to her middle and high school. “I’m a small-town girl,” she said.
Frano wanted to spend a year abroad in the United States and after meeting her husband, that year has stretched to 19. They have two daughters. One is a freshman at Texas Christian University and the other a sophomore in high school.
Frano described her residency as tough, but said that she wouldn’t have traded the experience for anything.
In her spare time she enjoys working in her yard, going to the gym, and running. Frano and her husband are currently looking for a house in Cleburne.
She has joined the practice of Dr. Henry Nance Jr. at 201 Walls Drive, Suite 503. She can be reached at 817-645-2122.
