Texas Health Cleburne Offers Safe Sitter® Program

CLEBURNE, Texas — While a comprehensive training manual has yet to be invented for parents, a training manual is available to teenagers ages 11 to 13 who are interested in babysitting to earn extra money. Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne is offering Safe Sitter® classes in the summer to teach adolescent babysitters safety precautions, how to understand children of different ages, and even the business of babysitting.

“Babysitting is a huge responsibility,” said Marvin Cloud, trauma coordinator and a certified Safe Sitter® instructor at Texas Health Cleburne. “This course helps the babysitters understand what is involved and how to handle most situations, and parents can feel confident that their babysitter has been properly trained.”

The course also includes basic first aid, rescue skills, and how to handle emergencies when they arise. Students receive a “completion” card after the class.

The eight hour class will be taught by a certified Safe Sitter® instructor from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 4. There is a $49 cost to cover the materials, snacks and lunch. Space is limited, so call now to register at 1-877-THR-WELL (1-877-847-9355).
