New Gastroenterology Services Available at Texas Health Cleburne
08/13/2009

CLEBURNE, Texas — Patients needing gastrointestinal services from Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne can now benefit from the latest equipment and a new physician who will bring advanced techniques to residents of Cleburne and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Yevgeniy Ostrinsky

“We are thrilled to bring a broader spectrum of gastrointestinal treatments to Cleburne,” said Blake Kretz, president of Texas Health Cleburne. “Patients suffering from GI disorders often suffer great discomfort and offering treatments close to home can help ease their pain.”

Nationwide, digestive diseases are estimated to have cost $141.8 billion in 2004, both in direct medical costs and indirect costs such as lost work time, according to a report entitled “The Burden of Digestive Diseases in the United States.” Digestive cancers accounted for 18 percent of total cancers in 2004.

To treat gastrointestinal patients in Johnson and the surrounding counties, Dr. Yevgeniy Ostrinsky, a licensed physician specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology, has joined the medical staff at Texas Health Cleburne.

In addition to colorectal cancer screening, treatment of hemorrhoids and other gastrointestinal services, Ostrinsky will offer upper endoscopy (EGD), endoscopic ultrasound and capsule endoscopy. He also will offer ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), which is a procedure to identify stones, tumors or bile duct narrowing.

Ostrinsky recently finished a fellowship at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. When deciding where to start his practice he and his wife wanted to move to a smaller community with close proximity to a larger metropolitan area. So far they have been welcomed with open arms.

“We love the community,” he said. “We’ve been exploring Cleburne and it’s very nice. Our neighbors have come and introduced themselves and showed my wife around. It’s been wonderful.”

Ostrinsky’s office is located at 203 Walls Drive, Suite 100.
