Texas Health Cleburne Volunteers Provide More Than 12,600 Hours of Service
05/17/2010

CLEBURNE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne’s 80 volunteers provided more hours of service in 2009 than there are hours in the year.

Texas Health Cleburne volunteers donated 12,660 hours of time to the hospital in 2009. There are only 8,760 hours in a year. That’s an average of 158.25 hours per volunteer — the equivalent to about a month of full-time service each. The volunteers were recently honored at a luncheon to celebrate their years of service.

“Our volunteers are indispensible to Texas Health Cleburne,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, hospital president. “We are truly blessed to have a dedicated group of volunteers helping Texas Health Cleburne to care for members of the community.”

The longest-serving volunteer is Nell McLaurin, who has worked with the hospital for 35 years. She has given 12,500 hours of her time.

Volunteers provide a variety of services at Texas Health Cleburne. They staff the information desk and the gift shop. They help direct individuals throughout the hospital and provide assistance on the hospital’s units. They also volunteer to make baby blankets and other special items for the hospital’s patients.

The Texas Health Cleburne Hospital Auxiliary was founded in 1969 and provides funding for equipment and construction needs at the hospital. All hospital volunteers are members of the auxiliary.

Volunteers are asked to commit to one four-hour shift each week. For more information about volunteering, call Pat Stiver at 817-556-4297 or visit TexasHealth.org/Cleburne.
