Nurse at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne Receives Community Service Award
06/17/2010

CLEBURNE, Texas — Carol Olivier, R.N., doesn’t just care about the health of people in Cleburne and the surrounding areas, she is constantly busy taking steps to improve it. Olivier is infection prevention and control practitioner at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne.

In addition to her role as infection prevention and control practitioner, she leads the Faith Community Nursing program at the hospital. The Faith Community Nursing program enables nurses to work directly in their faith communities to help improve people’s health. She also can frequently be found at fairs and events around town helping spread health information and assisting in health matters at Teen Life Challenge.

She also is spearheading the Vials of L.I.F.E. program at Texas Health Cleburne. The Vial of L.I.F.E is a life-saving tool that lists medical history and information, such as current allergies, medications and emergency contact numbers.

And when she’s not busy with those activities, Olivier is a Civil War re-enactor who dresses in period clothing and shares information about what medical care and treatment was like during the war.

For all those reasons, Olivier has been named a Community Service Award winner for Texas Health Cleburne. Each year Texas Health Resources honors employees, departments and physicians on the medical staff for their contributions outside of the hospital’s walls. Olivier was recently surprised by the award at the Texas Health Cleburne Quality Awards Ceremony.

“Carol is a shining example of the type of person at Texas Health Cleburne who pours her all into helping others each day,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, hospital president. “She doesn’t ask for praise or recognition, but I am honored to recognize the dedication and inspiration she provides to all around her.”

Olivier was shocked to receive the award. “I have a passion for helping others,” she said. “I am honored to be recognized, but for me the true reward is helping others.”
