Planning Starts for Texas Health Kaufman's Black Tie Ball

KAUFMAN, Texas — Planning is in full swing for this year’s Black Tie Ball, benefitting Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman. The third annual gala will raise money for a vital prenatal clinic for underserved women in the Kaufman area.

“We think this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever,” said Patsy Youngs, president of Texas Health Kaufman. “We want it to be a great party, for a great cause.”

The 2010 Black Tie Ball will be held Nov. 13 at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas. Last year, more than 300 people attended, helping raise funds for women’s and children’s services at Texas Health Kaufman.

“Last year’s Black Tie Ball built on the great success of the first gala, and we expect that to continue this year,” Carl Stapp, chair of the planning committee and member of the Texas Health Kaufman Board of Trustees. “We’re proud that the Black Tie Ball is an event Kaufman residents and hospital supporters look forward to every year.”

Last year’s event raised more than $45,000 to purchase a portable sonography machine to aid in the diagnosis of maternal-fetal emergencies.

The 2010 gala will help provide prenatal care to low-income, uninsured women in the Kaufman area. The goal is to help these women have healthy pregnancies and spot complications before they cause serious problems for their babies.

This year’s event will include a seated dinner, diamond raffle, live auction and dancing. Sponsorships begin at $500, with 100 percent of net proceeds funding the prenatal clinic. Individual reservations are $150.

“We’re proud to say that every penny we raise goes directly to improve the health of pregnant women in the communities we serve,” Youngs said. “The funds we raise will make a real difference in these women’s lives and the lives of their unborn children.”
