Surgeons on the medical staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas have access to many advanced tools, allowing them to offer leading-edge treatment options to patients. Cancer treatment options available at Texas Health Dallas include:
Leading-Edge Operating Rooms
Texas Health Dallas is pleased to announce the opening of a new wing of the main operating room. The 24,000-square-foot addition will showcase some of the most innovative and advanced technology in health-care design, infection prevention, and care delivery, including fully integrated operating suites, a stainless-steel-modular-wall system and world-class intraoperative imaging. From surgical-oncology specialties to advanced heart and vascular care, the new operating wing will allow caregivers at Texas Health Dallas to continue improving the health of people in the communities we serve.
Surgeons on the medical staff at Texas Health Dallas were the first in the United States to utilize BrainSUITE™ technology. With BrainSUITE™, surgeons are able to obtain real-time information during surgery to more accurately treat and remove complicated brain tumors. Traditionally, these images have only been available either prior to surgery or after the surgery has been completed. High-field iMRI provides surgeons immediate access to new images of the brain before, during, and at the conclusion of the surgical procedure. This allows surgeons to more fully differentiate diseased tissue from healthy tissue, which can also help protect critical areas of the brain.
da Vinci Surgical System®
Texas Health Dallas features the da Vinci® SI surgical system which allows surgeons on the medical staff to offer minimally invasive options for complex surgical procedures. With the da Vinci® SI, major surgery can be performed through the smallest of incisions.
The 8,000-square-foot Endoscopy Lab offers 21 preparation and recovery rooms, eight endoscopic procedure rooms, and a pulmonary room with a special ventilation system for infection control. Nineteen gastroenterologist on the Texas Health Dallas medical staff performed numerous highly specialized procedures in 2011, including 316 ERCP and almost 2,000 EUS procedures.
Unique Women’s Care
The Margot Perot Women’s Surgery Center has been accredited as a Center of Excellence for minimally invasive and robotic surgery by the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Surgeons at the Margot Perot Center are experienced in minimally invasive da Vinci robotic surgery. The da Vinci system allows enhanced surgical precision, offering patients a less-invasive procedure and typically causes less post-operative pain and potentially shorter recovery time. The facility houses five large patient-friendly operating rooms where an average of 14 surgeries are performed daily. Operating rooms are self-contained with pre-operative located nearby in order to minimize uncomfortable movements for the patient. Families are able to stay with the patient before surgery with no limitations on the number of possible visitors.
