Volunteer Program
Volunteers at Texas Health Azle are dedicated men and women from all kinds of backgrounds who share a common desire to help others. They get a first-hand look at what goes into high-quality health care through their efforts to comfort patients, provide information to guests and visitors and assist the professional staff. Volunteers typically sign up for a four-hour shift each week and must be 18 or older to participate.

Volunteers are asked to wear a uniform while on duty so that patients, staff members and other volunteers can easily identify them. Uniforms must be purchased at the volunteer's expense. Volunteers are also required to attend orientation and to have a TB skin test.

There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer. In addition to helping others, volunteers have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, gain new insights and achieve a sense of accomplishment. One free meal is also provided to volunteers while working at the hospital. Volunteer achievements are recognized once a year at an awards luncheon.

Volunteers are needed in these areas:

  • Material Management
  • Nurses Station
  • Admissions
  • Emergency Room
  • Environmental Services
  • Nutritional Services
  • Radiology
  • Cardiac Rehab
  • Gift Shop
  • Education

The hospital auxiliary was organized in 1974 and currently has more than 200 members. The purpose of the auxiliary is to assist the hospital in the development of better patient care by promoting a better understanding between the hospital and the community. The auxiliary's slogan is "The Heart of the Hospital." Each year the auxiliary undertakes major fund raising projects of the hospital and as a result of these events, the auxiliary is able to purchase special equipment for the hospital as recommended by the hospital's administration.

Since the inception of the auxiliary, this group of individuals has contributed more than $1,096,617 to the hospital in the form of equipment and contributions to building funds. The auxiliary and its volunteers have contributed more than 98,000 hours to the hospital. We encourage everyone to become a part of the wonderful organization.
