Support Groups

Better Breathers clubs are sponsored by the American Lung Association and located throughout the nation. Each club follows guidelines established by the American Lung Association to provide education to adults with lung problems. The Denton County Better Breathers Club was established in 1989 and meets at 11 a.m. on the last Wednesday of each month at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton. Meetings last about an hour, and a light lunch is provided. For more information or to register, call Patti Taylor, MS, RRT, at 940-898-7340.

Lap-Band support group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month in Meeting Rooms 1 & 2. Registration is required. Please call 940-898-7333.

Living With Cancer Support Group, for survivors and their support people, meets from 1 to 2 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month in the Rio Grande room at Texas Health Denton. Registration is not required. If you have questions, call Becky O’Shea, R.N., at 940-898-7002.

Look Good Feel Better provides four programs ayear in collaboration with American Cancer Society. This group is for women only and meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Trinity Room of the hospital's women's center. Lunch is provided. Weight loss support group is open to anyone who has had bariatric surgery, regardless of their surgeon, and meets for Attitudinal healing from 7 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of every month in the office of David Provost, M.D., 2501 Scripture Road, Medical Building 6, Ste. 303. You're also invited to join the staff and other patients at 5:45 p.m. for a walk around the hospital campus or the sky bridge. This is all done within a safe, peaceful environment.
