Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is a progressive program with the goal of helping patients restore and maintain optimal health while helping to reduce the risk of future heart problems. The program’s emphasis is on education and monitored progressive exercise by the cardiac rehabilitation team. Cardiac rehabilitation sessions at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano offer personalized exercise prescriptions, education and lifestyle modification programs.

Patients that have experienced any of the following procedures or conditions may benefit from cardiac rehabilitation:

  • Heart attack
  • Angina pectoris
  • Valvular heart disease
  • Heart failure
  • Angioplasty or stent placement
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Heart transplant

Meet the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team

As part of Texas Health Plano, the cardiac rehabilitation program’s multidisciplinary team is led by physicians on the medical staff and includes cardiac rehabilitation nurses, exercise physiologists and registered dietitians.

Hours of Operation

Regular operating hours for cardiac rehabilitation at Texas Health Plano are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Initial patient assessments are conducted from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Weekly disease education, nutrition and mental health classes offered:

  • Monday at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and noon
  • Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Insurance Coverage

Medicare and many other insurance companies can cover a large portion, if not all, of the costs of cardiac rehabilitation for most heart problems. Insurance benefits will be verified before patients start the program.
