Bryce N. Balmain, Ph.D.

Dr. Balmain is an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine (Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine) and the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He was the recipient of fellowship awards from the American Physiological Society and American Heart Association, and in 2023 received a Pathway to Independence Award (NIH: K99/R00) to investigate breathing limitations as they relate to shortness of breath and exercise intolerance in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Other research interests include cardiopulmonary and exercise physiology in health and disease, with a particular emphasis on pulmonary gas exchange, ventilation-perfusion matching, pulmonary vascular function, and breathing mechanics.
