ARLINGTON, Texas — Three Texas Health Resources hospitals are among the best in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and two are among the top 20 in Texas for their high performance in multiple areas of care, according to an annual report by U.S. News & World Report.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas tied for No. 3, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth tied for No. 5 and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth placed No. 8 in the DFW area in the publication’s annual 2022-2023 Best Hospitals report.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 33rd year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.
U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals methodology factors in data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists.
Overall, Southwestern Health Resources, the clinically integrated health network created by UT Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health, is making healthcare more accessible and convenient for a wide range of medical needs, including complex and specialty care. Together, Southwestern Health Resources had four hospitals in the top 10, including the region's No. 1 ranked facility.
Hospitals Ranked among Top Hospitals in DFW and Texas
- Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas — tied for the No. 3 rank in DFW and tied for 14th in Texas; rated as high performing in COPD, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, ovarian cancer surgery and stroke. Earlier this year, Texas Health Dallas was designated as a Level I Trauma Center by the Texas Department of State Health Services for providing advanced care to severely injured patients in North Texas.
- Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth — tied for No. 5 in DFW and tied for 16th in Texas; rated as high performing in back surgery (spinal fusion), COPD, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure and knee replacement and orthopedics. Texas Health Southwest was also recognized as “high performing” in orthopedics in the report’s national adult specialties rankings.
- Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth — placed No. 8 in DFW and rated as high performing in colon cancer surgery, COPD, diabetes, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, kidney failure and stroke. Texas Health Fort Worth also holds The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Neurotrauma Certification, the first hospital in the country to receive this recognition for providing high-acuity neuroscience services.
Adult Specialties National Rankings
For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Texas Health Southwest received “high performing” for orthopedics — a designation that tells consumers the hospital excels in this specialty.
