Welcome to Texas Health Specialty Hospital Fort Worth
Texas Health Specialty Hospital Fort Worth opened in 1989 as a separately licensed 15-bed hospital on the campus of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. The hospital is a Pathway to Excellence® accredited facility that serves adult patients with medically complex hospital needs such as acute and chronic renal failure, prolonged respiratory conditions and/or failure, and wound management requiring complex intervention. We can safely accept patients from the intensive care unit.
Parking & Transportation
Parking is available for a fee on the Texas Health Fort Worth campus, and valet parking is available at the main entrance at Richardson Tower.

Visitor Information
Patients may receive visitors at any time (specialty units may have some variation). Please check with the nurse regarding specific unit visiting hours and quiet time guidelines, or if you have any special needs or requests.
For safety reasons, latex balloons or other latex products are not allowed (mylar balloons are allowed).

Alvin Mathe II, DO, Chief Quality and Medical Officer
Alvin Mathe II, DO has been a practicing physician with Texas Health Specialty Hospital since 2009, specializing in Palliative Medicine. He began serving as Medical Director in 2022, Chief Quality and Medical Officer in 2023, and Chief of Staff in 2024. Dr. Mathe has been with Texas Health Resources since 2005, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee at Texas Health Fort Worth and supervising a Palliative Medicine Physician’s Assistant at Texas Health Arlington Memorial. He brings over thirty years of experience and expertise to his roles here at Texas Health Specialty Hospital.
Dr. Mathe graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, with his undergraduate degree before completing medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He completed Internship at University Hospitals Osteopathic Consortium Program, followed by Residency and Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinical Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Mathe holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Pam Duffey, Chief Operating Officer | Chief Nursing Officer
Pam Duffey, D.N.P., R.N., NEA-BC, joined Texas Health Resources in 1996 and Texas Health Specialty Hospital (THSH) in 1997 and has served in several roles throughout her tenure. She became the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for THSH in 2018 and brings almost three decades of experience in operations, leadership, and serving patients.
As the COO/CNO, Pam oversees all hospital operations and is responsible for developing strategic initiatives that improve patient outcomes, revenue, business development, and quality. Under her leadership along with her stellar team, THSH has some of the highest patient satisfaction and quality results in the THR system. THSH also has been designated as an American Nurses Credentialing Center's Pathway to Excellence® organization five times.
Pam received her BSN and MSN from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her DNP from the University of Alabama. She is a member of multiple professional organizations and is board-certified as an advanced nurse executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She also has several publications and presentations.
Pam enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family. She and her late husband of almost 39 years, Chad, have three children, two grandchildren, two more grandchildren on the way in 2025, and several fur babies.
