Gerry C. Gunnin, Ph.D. served as president of the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation and vice president of the Community Health Improvement Department for Texas Health Resources from 1995-2001. His passion for public health made him an irreplaceable member of the Texas Health family and his community. The Gerry C. Gunnin, Ph.D. Public Health Memorial Fellowship is a tribute to the late visionary's leadership and a continuation of his work to advance community health and wellbeing improvement.
Texas Health instituted the Gunnin Scholarship in 2006 to assist individuals pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree in public health. An internship was added to the program in 2017, creating the Gunnin Fellowship, which annually presents one student with a $10,000 tuition scholarship (paid upon successful completion of Fellowship) and provides the selected Fellow with a 400-hour internship with programs and services within Texas Health Community Hope and a $6,400 stipend.
