Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth has a longstanding history of providing advanced medical care. Serving North Texas as a Level I Trauma Center and Emergency Center of Excellence by Emergency Excellence, the hospital has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Centers and Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification. The hospital is also the first in North Texas to earn the American College of Cardiology Transcatheter Valve Certification. Additionally, it is only the second hospital in the nation to earn the Gold Seal of Approval for Brain Tumor Certification by The Joint Commission. Patients may receive visitors at any time (specialty units may have some variation). Please check with the nurse regarding specific unit visiting hours and quiet time guidelines, or if you have any special needs or requests.

Jared Shelton, President
Jared Shelton, FACHE, serves as president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, assuming the role in September 2024 after a two-year stint as president at Texas Health HEB.
He shares leadership responsibilities with Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Chavez, D.N.P., R.N., and Chief Quality and Medical Officer Amy Papst, M.D.
Shelton's previous roles included six years as president of Texas Health Allen, and a term as vice president of Professional & Support Services for Texas Health Dallas.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business and a minor in religion. He also earned a master’s degree in health care administration from Trinity University.
Shelton is a past president for the North Texas chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served two terms on the Texas Hospital Association’s "Council on Policy Development". He is a graduate of the Leadership Allen Fairview Class XXVIII as well as Allen ISD Leadership Academy Class II, and is also a member of the vestry at the Church of the Incarnation in Dallas.
Outside of work, Shelton and his wife, Kathryn, enjoy parenthood with their young children — daughters, Mackenzie and Caroline, and son, Jack.

Jennifer Chavez, Chief Nursing Officer
Jennifer Chavez, D.N.P., R.N., ACNP-BC, NEA-BC, CCRN, serves as the chief nursing officer of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, assuming the role in October 2021.
Chavez joined Texas Health Fort Worth in March 2020 and led the strategic planning, program development, business plans and day-to-day operations of clinical support areas including surgical services, radiology, pharmacy and laboratory.
With the consumer at the center of this transformation every step of the way, Chavez provides the clinical focus necessary to pursue the highest quality outcomes. She is a practicing acute-care nurse practitioner with a patient-centered orientation to care delivery. Her process-focused attention to patient care emphasizes the need for nursing excellence throughout the patient care continuum resulting in outstanding patient experience.
Chavez brings more than two decades of experience in various nursing roles and operational leadership. She began her career at Texas Health Fort Worth as a patient care technician and quickly advanced into a dynamic leader and associate chief nursing officer at Texas Health Southwest.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Christian University and received her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Texas Tech Health Science Center – Executive Nursing Leadership and is also actively involved in community organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the American Heart Association. She is one of the few individuals within Texas Health to complete the Advisory Board Executive Fellowship program.
Chavez and her husband, Michael, are the parents of three beautiful daughters. Outside of work, she values quality time with her family, as well as gardening.

Amy Papst, Chief Quality and Medical Officer
Amy L. Papst, M.D., M.S.-H.C.T., serves as chief quality and medical officer at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, undertaking that role in March 2022.
A board certified anesthesiologist, Papst has a strong background in informatics and electronic health record (EHR) platforms. In a previous post as chief medical officer at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, she helped expand graduate medical education to more than 36 residency and fellowship programs and made significant reduction of healthcare-associated infections.
Papst completed medical school and residency at the University of Arizona and earned a Master of Science Degree in Health Care Transformation at the University of Texas at Austin while serving as CMO at Ascension.
She and her husband, Greg, have three adult children and an English springer spaniel named Doc, who loves to hunt. Outside work, she enjoys spending time on their ranch, hunting and traveling. She and her husband also are avid bowlers.
