In 1999, the Texas Health Fort Worth Medical Library became a member of the Planetree Alliance of Healthcare Organizations. This service was expanded to include both Texas Health Resources Medical Libraries in 2015.
Consumer Health Information
Consumer Health Information services are provided through Planetree, a national non-profit organization that embraces patient education and awareness by offering consumer health information through holistic and integrative medicine resources. Planetree services are staffed by professional medical librarians with a consumer health background. All services are provided free of charge to patients, family members and the community of Texas Health Resources.
Consumer Health Information services include:
- Customized health information packets (in English and Spanish) which can be sent directly to the individual or to a participating public library upon request.
- Library research services including searching and retrieval of articles to meet your individual information needs.
- Access to Planetree resources, medical literature, popular health publications, leaflets, pamphlets, fact sheets for patients, Internet resources, directories for locating support groups, health practitioners and health organizations.
- Inclusion of holistic resources in addition to traditional medical and health information.
You are encouraged to seek consumer health information related to your health questions, therapies, conditions and research areas of interest. We believe an empowered patient or family member is able to make appropriate health decisions. Planetree Public Library Partners include:
