Keeping Grandma Julie’s Legacy Alive

Goguen FamilyIn 2013, Jenny and Joshua Goguen gave birth to their third son, Gryphon. Because the Goguens lacked maternity insurance, Jenny’s grandmother, Julia Keith, paid their hospital bill. Inspired, Julia proceeded to pay for two more families that day who could not afford their Labor & Delivery bills.

Today, Jenny and Joshua are keepers of the Gryphund Endowment, a fund that honors her great-grandchildren through Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano. Although Grandma Julia passed away in 2021, the family is proud to continue to manage and support her beautiful, generous gift.

Through donations to the endowment, the hospital identifies struggling families in the Labor & Delivery unit and can assist them with basic needs such as car seats, baby formula, clothing, food, shelter, utilities, equipment and transportation. The Gryphund Endowment also supports families with charity care provided by the Labor & Delivery unit at the hospital, as well as hospital bills not covered by insurance or other resources for labor and delivery services.

In 2024, Texas Health Plano was able to assist a struggling young NICU family who needed financial help to purchase a specially designed car seat to accommodate the needs of a baby girl who was born with a physical complication that required a specialized seat.

We are so grateful to Circle of Giving donors like the Goguens who make giving a family tradition.
