Getting Ready to Head Back to Work

If you’ll be returning to work soon, these tips can help with the transition:

  • Plan a few “dress rehearsals.” Try leaving your baby with your childcare provider for a couple hours (with a bottle of breast milk—or formula if you aren’t nursing).
  • Consider asking your employer about returning part-time for the first 6 months (if this would work for your family).
  • If you’re returning full-time, ask about starting on a Thursday or Friday to ease into the schedule.

Always seek the advice of a physician or qualified healthcare provider for any questions you have about your health or medical condition, your breastfeeding issues and your infant's health. Never disregard, avoid or delay contacting a doctor or other qualified professional because of something you have read in our emails, webpages or other electronic communications.
