Are you expecting a new baby? Joyous news can also be the source of confusion and stress for toddlers.
There’s no rush to tell your toddler about the baby, although do try to tell him before someone else does.
If you let your child help with the preparations, she may feel less jealous after the baby arrives. Be sure she knows, too, that the baby will not be ready to play with her for a while!
Give your toddler a doll or stuffed animal to serve as his “baby” so he can learn to be gentle and caring with it. Also, one-on-one time with Mom and with Dad can let him know he is loved just as much as the new baby.
