Looking for a cool way to see how much your child has advanced in problem-solving? Give him or her a few items not normally considered to be toys—tubes, blocks, boxes, canisters, etc.
Sit down together and experiment; see how these things work together.
Be sure to give your child plenty of time and space to create connections, as well as time to work with you. Observe how your toddler manipulates the items and to what purpose.
You’ll get some insight into how your child thinks—something you can build on as you continue to play and interact.
