Even as your toddler nears age 3, he may still be unable to sit for long periods of time. So how do you get your child to sit with you while you’re reading a story?
- Try reading at snack or meal times, when your little one is already sitting to eat.
- Choose stories that repeat the same word or phrase; your child will look forward to hearing it again and this can help both memory and language skills.
- Read stories with physical action. If the story involves jumping, encourage your toddler to jump and then to sit back down to see what to do next.
