Toddlers can become picky as they get older, and some may begin protesting over the clothes they wear, opting for the same outfit each day.
A primary developmental task for toddlers is beginning to understand they are separate people with their own desires. This can lead to many instances of combativeness while they exercise their will to make choices on their own.
When it comes to getting dressed, let your toddler stake a claim to the choice of his clothing for now. Doing so will confirm for him all that he is learning about himself and others.
When the time comes to wash that treasured clothing item, offer your child a choice of 1 or 2 other garments to give him a sense of control and independence.
