FORT WORTH, Texas — The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has recognized Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth for the fourth time as a Magnet®hospital — the most prestigious designation honoring nursing services. In addition to receiving re-designation, the hospital also received four exemplars for exemplary professional practice related to nursing satisfaction, core measure outcome for anticoagulation, coordinating care across the continuum and individualizing patient care plans.

There are 490 hospitals worldwide and 45 in Texas that have received Magnet® status. Texas Health Fort Worth joins only six Texas hospitals to have achieved Magnet® designation for the fourth time. The designation recognizes health care organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in nursing practice. Four other wholly owned Texas Health hospitals — Texas Health Plano, Texas Health Arlington Memorial, Texas Health Dallas and Texas Health Southwest — are also Magnet® recognized hospitals.

A Magnet®-designated hospital is recognized for its "magnetic" nursing environment where nurses and clinical staff work collaboratively within a positive culture that supports new ideas and evidence-based work practices. Although Magnet® is a program designed for the recognition of nurses, the entire interdisciplinary care team plays a valuable part in attaining the Magnet® designation.
