Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth has once again been named a 100 Top Hospital in the nation for overall quality of the patient experience and efficiency of care. This honor, given by IBM Watson Health (formerly Truven), recognizes hospitals based on public data for clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics.
“We’re honored to be included on this list of nationally recognized hospitals for excellence in patient care and organization performance,” said Becky Tucker, president at Texas Health Southwest. “This is a true reflection of the commitment from our employees, volunteers and physicians on the medical staff to provide quality and safe care to each patient.”
According to the Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® study, the high-performing hospitals on the list achieved better risk-adjusted outcomes while maintaining both a lower average cost per patient and higher profit margin than other peer group hospitals.
All research was based on the evaluation of 3,156 short-term, acute care, non-federal U.S. hospitals in key performance measures such as survival rates, complications and infections, length of stay, Emergency Department wait times, operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Conducted since 1993, the study also relies on public data from Medicare cost reports, Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) data, and core measures and patient satisfaction data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website.
In addition to this recognition, Texas Health Southwest again achieved five stars on Hospital Compare, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services website. It is among a small percentage throughout the country to achieve this feat that includes patient feedback on their experience.
