ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Health Resources is one of 54 honorees nationwide to receive the Business Group on Health Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-being Award for its outstanding commitment to advancing employee well-being through comprehensive and innovative benefits and initiatives. This is the 15th time Texas Health has received this recognition.
Texas Health provides educational campaigns and information to help employees identify benefits, programs and healthcare providers that fit their personal needs.
“Texas Health is the place to do your life’s best work,” said Carla Dawson, chief people officer for Texas Health. “We are fueled by feedback and encourage each care team member to speak up when they have an idea to improve and enhance the quality of care and the experience we offer.”
Honorees were assessed on their approaches to leadership, culture and well-being strategy; holistic well-being, including mental health, financial well-being, social connectedness, job satisfaction, flexibility and time away; engagement and the employee experience; health equity and social determinants; and metrics and evaluation.
Texas Health was among 13 winners that also received the Excellence in Health Equity honor from the Business Group on Health. This additional award highlights efforts to help all employees reach their full health potential, incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging into health and well-being strategies. For example, Texas Health provides educational campaigns and information that helps employees identify benefits, programs and healthcare providers that fit their personal needs. Texas Health’s benefits costs are also tiered by salary and free services such as the Employee Assistance Program frequently are shared with employees.
Texas Health’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy is structured around six pillars, which cover clinical care equity, building an inclusive and culturally welcoming environment, diversity in talent, diversity in governance, healthcare disparities and supplier diversity. Texas Health fosters inclusive policies and practices, training and development programs and recruitment strategies aimed at creating a culture of excellence, where everyone feels included and that they belong.
“We are cultivating an inclusive work environment providing equitable opportunities and career development opportunities across the system,” said Mark Morales, vice president and chief talent officer.
