2023 Fast Facts

Innovative Collaborations

At Texas Health, strong relationships and collaboration maximize our impact on our communities.

In 2016, we worked with the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center to establish Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR). This accountable care organization is committed to delivering quality outcomes while reducing the overall cost of care through inventive population health approaches. SWHR is a clinically integrated network that brings together academic and community clinicians, researchers, hospitals, and ambulatory facilities.

2023 Highlights

SWHR:

  • Participated in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ ACO Realizing Equity, Access and Community Health (REACH) Model. It requires participants to develop and implement a robust health equity plan to identify underserved communities and launch initiatives to reduce health disparities within their patient populations.
  • Received the Leaders in Quality Excellence Award for improving the quality and safety of patient care and advancing population health goals.

Texas Health Resources Foundation

The Texas Health Resources Foundation (Foundation) is Texas Health's philanthropic arm. By engaging generous donors and community stakeholders, the Foundation financially supports hospital, educational, community health, and patient initiatives that address our region’s most critical needs each year.

2023 Highlights

The Foundation granted approximately $13.6 million in gifts, including $6.2 million for hospital expansions and renovations, $2.5 million for community outreach initiatives, $2 million in education and caregiver support, $1.6 million for research support and $1.3 million for special projects. These donations enabled:

  • The completion of the $65 million renovation at the Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants at Texas Health Dallas, changing the lives of women and their families for decades to come.
  • Care teams at the Jane and John Justin Tower at Texas Health Fort Worth to serve 14,405 patients, 37% more than in 2022.
  • The construction of Texas Health Plano’s NICU Family Center, which will provide much-needed comforts of home to our tiniest patients and their families when they need them most.
  • Texas Health Hurst-Euless-Bedford to create a Community Health Fund in honor of its 50 years of service.
  • The expansion of the THRIVE (Together Harnessing Resources to Give Individuals Voice and Empowerment) program to two additional schools, bringing valuable resiliency training and in-school grocery stores in underserved areas of North Texas.
  • The continued operation of Health to Home, a medical respite program for unhoused patients with complex, acute medical needs in collaboration with Austin Street Center.
  • More than 200 nurses and allied health professionals to attend educational conferences and bring back innovative ideas and practices.
  • The implementation of more than 40 Schwartz Rounds, a support program that allows healthcare providers to openly discuss the social and emotional issues they face in caring for patients and families.
  • Texas Health Allen to achieve primary stroke center certification, and Texas Health to complete research studies in its cardiopulmonary and women’s heart health labs.
  • Our Wellness for Life® mobile unit program to deliver life-saving screenings and healthcare services to 3,296 people in need.

Additionally, the Foundation had its most successful year to date for North Texas Giving Day, raising $902,882 from 480 donors.
