Cost can be a deterrent to seeking care, especially during challenging economic times, but the long-term impacts of delaying care or missing a diagnosis are far more costly to patients’ health and well-being. We hope that by offering options and dialogue, no one will stop seeking the care they need to live their best lives.
Payment Options
Texas Health offers flexible options to lessen consumers’ burden of paying for their care. We also offer MyChart, a self-service portal where patients can:
- View visit charges and payments.
- Pay balances in full.
- Create and manage payment plans based on the balance due and a reasonable monthly amount. Depending on the balance, payment terms can go up to 60 months.
- Consolidate balances from multiple visits into one payment plan.
- View and print statements and itemized bills.
- Apply for financial assistance for hospital visit balances.
- Contact customer service for support.
2023 Highlights
Texas Health:
- Completed the first phase of consolidating patient billing from Texas Health hospitals, Breeze urgent care and Texas Health Physicians Group. This enables our Patient Financial Experience team to manage all aspects of billing and consolidate patientbalances for services rendered into one bill, making it easier for consumers to understand and manage payments.
- Itemized bills to comply with a new state law that requires healthcare providers to describe the services provided, billing codes used to request payment from a third-party payer, the amounts billed to and paid by that payer, and the amount due from the patient.
Price Transparency
Texas Health is committed to helping consumers make informed decisions about their healthcare and providing tools to help understand out-of-pocket costs for care. While everyone’s situation is unique – with expenses based on healthcare plans, benefit coverage, current health year expenditures and clinical needs – our objective is to make it easy to estimate out-of-pocket costs using our online tool. We also provide every patient with access to our financial counselors, who can help patients get an accurate estimate of cost as well as understand payment options.
