Texas Health aims to provide the easiest way to access and navigate care in North Texas. We are expanding into new markets, enhancing services and facilities, and offering numerous ways for consumers to access the healthcare they need.

Seamless and Convenient Care

Helping consumers navigate a complex maze of providers, resources and facilities helps expedite care, improve outcomes and advance health equity.

Through Texas Health Connect, we promptly guide individuals to support, helping them locate providers and facilities, schedule same-day video visits and appointments, complete health risk assessments, register for classes and events, access the Help Desk or MyChart, and connect with representatives for assistance. Additionally, analytics intelligently direct website visitors toward relevant resources and actions based on their search histories or health assessment results.

Other time-saving tools we offer include:

  • Quick Care video visits, which provide an easy, convenient and affordable alternative to the traditional urgent care experience. This capability provides continuity of care if Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) clinics are closed and expedites referrals to our Emergency Departments for more serious health issues.
  • Telehealth appointments to virtually connect consumers with primary and specialty care providers or behavioral health professionals.
  • Online access to health education programs, support groups and resources.
  • MyChart, a portal that allows consumers to upload documents and registration paperwork, electronically sign forms, access medical records, and consult with their care team to determine whether they need an appointment or to request medical advice.
  • Text, email or phone notifications that update loved ones during surgeries, notify and remind people of appointments, and send links to instructions and technical support. Consumers can select their preferred method of communication.
2023 Highlights

Texas Health:

  • Expanded telehealth capabilities across cardiac and behavioral health service lines to enhance communication among patients and providers. For THPG and Texas Health Behavioral Health, the tool has helped improve the workflow of telehealth visits and increased the number of consultations with fewer no-shows.
  • Enhanced communication with consumers by embedding links to information and resources inside digital and text messages. We also created a messaging system that communicates the status of referral processing via text and email, which has reduced the time for patients to receive a referral appointment from five days to less than two days.
  • Pursued certification from the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC®), which sets standards for preventing, protecting and managing liabilities related to virtual healthcare delivery.

Expanding Access to Care

Texas Health is an integrated healthcare system that seamlessly delivers care inside our walls, virtually, in North Texas communities and from the comfort of consumers’ homes. To help all consumers receive the care they need to support their health and well-being, we are:

  • Constructing and expanding hospitals, medical office buildings and behavioral health facilities to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population.
  • Opening neighborhood Texas Health Breeze Urgent Care™ clinics that offer transparent pricing and commonly prescribed medications. Consumers also can schedule a house call through a service we offer exclusively through DispatchHealth.
  • Providing Texas Health Care at Home, a program that provides eligible patients with acute-level care from the comfort of their homes. They have access to a 24/7 medical command center staffed by physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and service coordinators who consult with and assess progress several times daily and visit in person when needed. The holistic program addresses immediate healthcare needs and empowers patients with the knowledge and tools necessary for sustained well-being.
  • Offering more virtual care options through video consultations from a smartphone or computer.
2023 Highlights

Texas Health:

  • Expanded and renovated Texas Health Hospital Rockwall and revitalized the Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants. We also began renovating operating rooms at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville.
  • Opened a new neonatal intensive care unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano and completed construction of a critical care tower at Texas Health Huguley Hospital.
  • Opened five additional Texas Health Breeze Urgent Care™ clinics, bringing the total at year-end to 25. Providers cared for nearly 200,000 patients, of which about 33% were completely new to Texas Health. Visits averaged 36 minutes “door to door,” significantly under the industry average of 65 minutes. Consumer satisfaction was high, with a Net Promoter Score® (NPS) of 91. NPS measures consumers’ likeliness to recommend Texas Health on a scale of -100 to 100.
  • We cared for 135 Texas Health Care at Home patients with zero mortalities and infections. To aid their healing, we expanded the care team to include chaplains, behavioral health professionals and community health workers. We also successfully completed a 30-day episode of care encompassing a spectrum of therapies, education and resources.
  • Deployed telehealth capabilities at Texas Health Stephenville to enable consumers living in this remote community to consult with specialists at THPG.

Snapshot: Addressing an Urgent Need for Behavioral Health Support

The state of Texas grapples with a significant deficiency in mental health and substance abuse services, ranking among the lowest nationwide. In North Texas, the need for support is just as critical.

Annually, Texas Health, Texas Health Behavioral Health and Texas Health Physicians Group collectively redirect approximately 29,000 individuals to external mental health facilities and resources due to internal limitations. These referrals often lead to prolonged wait times and restricted payment options, exacerbating the strained situation.

Recognizing the pressing need to expand access to these critical services, Texas Health spent 2023 recruiting and onboarding additional psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, and therapists. In 2024, they will operate a new outpatient psychiatric practice that accepts insurance and delivers individual therapy and medication management entirely through telehealth.

While services will initially be offered to our behavioral health and primary care patients, we hope to accept referrals from other providers in 2025. With the establishment of this virtual clinic, consumers will have access to behavioral health services across every Texas Health care setting.
