Junior Volunteer Program
Each Texas Health Resources hospital has specific requirements for their Junior Volunteer program. Here are the basic opportunities, requirements and benefits to becoming a Junior Volunteer. For more information about hospital specific programs, please browse below.
  • Junior Volunteer Overview
    Junior Volunteers are needed throughout each hospital campus in patient care areas and business operation departments as well. Most opportunities are clerical in nature.
  • Junior Volunteer Requirements
    • Each Texas Health facility recruits Junior Volunteers who are 16 to 18 years old. The student must turn 16 no later than May 1 of the year they will be participating. Students 14-15 may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but would need a parent to accompany them at all times.
    • Must apply early in the calendar year in order to be considered. See hospital specific application dates.
    • Must commit to the entire summer and a minimum of 32 to 128 hours, depending on the Texas Health hospital.
    • Must provide two letters of reference.
    • Must have a valid Social Security number.

Junior Volunteer Opportunities

  • Texas Health Allen

    The application window for Summer 2024 has closed and we will not be accepting any more submissions.

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Allen will begin on June 3, 2024, and end on August 6, 2024. 

    Applicants must currently be enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before June 1 of the program year.

    Students must complete a minimum of 48 volunteer hours over the course of 10 weeks. The minimum is four hours per week. Only two weeks may be missed due to vacations/sickness. If you will miss more than two weeks, you cannot participate in the program.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent out via email to selected candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Immunization Records
    • Driver's License or Photo ID
    • Resume

    Applications are now available. APPLY IMMEDIATELY; once a sufficient number of applications have been received, the application process will close. No exceptions.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to:

    • Provide a valid Social Security card.
    • Visit our Employee Health department for a urine drug screen and review of immunization records. Student must be accompanied by a parent.
    • Have a TB test completed by applicant’s personal physician.
    • Pass a background check.
    • Attend a mandatory orientation on June 3 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

  • Texas Health Alliance

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Alliance will be offered in two sessions for 2024.

    First session
    June 3-28

    Second session
    July 8 to August 3

    Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete the required 32 hours over the course of four weeks to earn a certificate of completion. Students must be available to volunteer during two, 4-hour shifts per week for four weeks without missing any shifts to participate in the program. They must also have a valid Social Security number to participate.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to submit the following:

    High School volunteers who are accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check and visit the hospital's Employee Health department for a urine drug screening and review of immunization records. This step must be completed by May 30, 2024 in order to attend a mandatory orientation session on May 31, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Additionally, a TB test is required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician before making the Employee Health appointment.

  • Texas Health Arlington Memorial

    During the summer, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital opens the volunteer program to students ages 16 to 18. Application forms are available at the Volunteer Services office.

    Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before June 1st of the program year.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent to qualified candidates via email. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Two reference Letters
    • Immunization records
    • Driver's license or photo ID
    • Resume
    • Other paperwork we will be providing to you

  • Texas Health Azle
  • Texas Health Burleson
  • Texas Health Clearfork

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Clearfork is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and be at least 16 years old by June 1st of the program year. Students must complete one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts each week over the course of six to eight weeks. The application will be open from January 13th to February 21st.

    Applications for Summer 2025 are not open until January 13th.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant will be asked to bring the following to the interview:

    • Valid ID or Drivers License
    • Two reference letters

    Accepted students will be required to complete/provide the following prior to beginning the summer program:

    • Student/Parent Informational Meeting
    • Student orientation
    • TB testing
    • Drug screening
    • Immunization records

  • Texas Health Cleburne

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Cleburne is called High School Student Service Learning and it runs during the summer months. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before June 3 of the program year. Students must complete 64 volunteer hours, 8 hours per week over the course of 8 weeks.

    This year's program will run from June 3 to July 26, 2024, and applications will be accepted beginning January 15 and close on February 29.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • 2 Reference Letters
    • Immunization Records
    • Driver's License or Photo ID
    • Resume
    • Other paperwork we will be providing to you

    Each applicant will also be asked to be photographed for identification and possible future badge photo.

    High School volunteers who are accepted into the program will be required to visit our Employee Health department for a TB screening, urine drug screening and review of immunization records.

  • Texas Health Dallas

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Dallas is called High School Student Service Learning and it runs during the summer months. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 128 volunteer hours, 16 hours per week over the course of 10 weeks.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • 2 Reference Letters
    • Immunization Records
    • Driver's License or Photo ID
    • Other paperwork we will be providing to you

    Each applicant will also be asked to be photographed for identification and possible future badge photo.

    High School volunteers who are accepted into the program will be required to visit our Employee Health department for a TB screening, urine drug screening and review of immunization records.

  • Texas Health Denton

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Denton will begin on June 12 and end on July 31, 2024. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before June 1 of the program year. Students must complete a minimum of 48 volunteer hours over the course of seven weeks. The minimum is eight hours per week by volunteering for two 4-hour shifts or one 8-hour shift. Only two weeks may be missed due to vacations/sickness etc.

    Mandatory orientation is Friday, June 11 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

    Note: Applications for summer 2024 are now closed. The teen summer program has been filled.

  • Texas Health Fort Worth

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Fort Worth is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 48 volunteer hours, one eight-hour shift per week over the course of six weeks. The application will be open from January 10 to February 16, 2024.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check, urine drug screening and review of immunization records with our Employee Health Office. Additionally, TB tests will be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

  • Texas Health Frisco

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Frisco is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 64 volunteer hours, eight hours per week over the course of nine weeks.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Two Letters of Reference (Download template)
    • Immunization Records
    • Driver's License or Photo ID
    • Other paperwork we will be providing to you

    Each applicant will also be asked to be photographed for identification and possible future badge photo.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check, urine drug screening and review of immunization records with our Employee Health Office. Additionally, TB tests will be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

    The application for Summer 2025 will open on February 3, 2025.

  • Texas Health HEB

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health HEB offers two sessions and is active during the summer months only. For the 2024 program dates, see below under “Important dates.”

    Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least be 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must be available to volunteer two, four-hour shifts per week for four weeks. The student must complete the required 32 hours to receive the certificate of completion.

    Application Deadline: Feb. 15, 2024

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Two photos (2x2 passport size)

    A mandatory parent /student informational meeting will be conducted to explain the Employee Health process (see below) and details of the program.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check, urine drug screening, and review of immunization records with our Employee Health Office. Additionally, TB tests will be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

    Important Dates:

      Mandatory student orientation from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 31

    Student Volunteer Program

    Preparations for the 2024 Junior Volunteer Program are well underway. This program is designed for high school students ages 16–18. It is based solely on community service as opposed to career development. We are currently accepting applicants.

    Every applicant that turns in a completed Application Packet will be given the opportunity to interview for a place in this year’s program.

    Students accepted into the program must provide up to date documentation of all immunizations, attend a scheduled virtual student/parent acceptance meeting, orientation, and commit to 2 four -hour shifts per week for a 6 -week session totaling 52 hours. This includes a TB Skin Test or T Spot/IGRA to be performed by your personal physician or outside source.

     All immunizations are at the expense of the student. All students 16 years of age and older are required to successfully pass a criminal background check and urine drug screening administered by Texas Health Plano.

  • Texas Health Southwest

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Southwest is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and be at least 16 years old by June 1st of the program year. Students must complete one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts each week over the course of six to eight weeks. The application will be open from January 13th to February 21st.

    Applications for Summer 2025 are not open until January 13th.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant will be asked to bring the following to the interview:

    • Valid ID or Drivers License
    • Two reference letters
