Meaningful Recovery through Family Involvement
Each individual who struggles with drug or alcohol addiction touches the life of a child, parent, sibling, spouse or partner, putting a strain on otherwise loving relationships. Understanding the nature of substance use disorders and available options for treatment can help family members to better cope with the impact of addiction and remain supportive throughout a loved one’s recovery journey.
Evidence-based Approaches to Therapy
At The Addiction Recovery Center by Texas Health, we recognize the importance of including family in the addiction recovery process. We provide a variety of evidence-based approaches to therapy for family members to be involved in their loved one’s treatment. During therapy, family members are guided by a licensed family therapist through the exploration of:
- How addiction affects their loved one as an individual.
- How it affects the family or support system as a whole.
- How to make positive changes to help facilitate individual and family healing.
How to Connect
Family sessions are requested by the client and scheduled when appropriate for all parties. We also offer a weekly family group that provides a broader connection to other families of addiction.
Chances for a positive recovery outcome are increased by support system participation. However, we understand that there are circumstances in which family therapy may not be what’s best for you. We will work with you to find an appropriate care plan should you not feel ready for family therapy or if a healthy family dynamic isn’t possible.
