Our new program will train tomorrow’s internists to care for and improve the health of the people in the communities they serve. We are committed to providing internal medicine residents excellent training to become extraordinary physicians who are leaders in their field. Ten residents per year have the opportunity to learn and grow in our categorical residency program.
The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Texas Health Fort Worth is a hybrid between an academic and community-based hospital. Our program provides residents a variety of clinical and procedural experiences with a diverse patient population, while maintaining an emphasis on education. Upon completion of their training, our residents will be well prepared for the next step in their career, whether it is pursuing a fellowship program, hospital medicine or an ambulatory primary care practice.

Program mission:

Program aims:
- Encourage residents to cultivate the strategy, structure and passion necessary for self-discovery, reflection and life-long learning in the field of internal medicine.
- Foster a commitment to patient-centric care and value awareness, including appreciating diversity, that is modeled by all faculty.
- Create an educational environment that promotes quality improvement and scholarly activity projects that allow residents to become proficient in the creation of new knowledge.
- Provide residents with the resources and curriculum to graduate with the skills and knowledge to begin independent practice or match into an internal medicine sub-specialty program.
- Develop resilient, humanistic, patient-centered physicians who are equipped with the necessary tools to meet their individual career goals and who are committed to developing professional skills in the healthcare setting.
